  • HKA believes architecture should perform, not merely represent. Projects begin with root problems rather than predefined forms, treating constraints—site, budget, regulations, and time—as drivers of innovation. The studio prioritizes collaboration over authorship, designing processes rather than imposing solutions. Responsibility, implementation, and construction are embraced as creative acts, ensuring continuity between concept and realization. Form and function are not opposed but unified through performance, producing architecture that is precise, adaptable, and context-specific.

  • Inspired by nature’s processes rather than its forms, HKA conceives architecture as an experience shaped by light, air, material, and time. Design seeks simplicity, clarity, and human scale, particularly in dense or vertical environments. Architecture is understood as evolving over time—designed to adapt, endure, and remain relevant. Through research and built work, HKA aims to contribute to a more sustainable, human-centered, and resilient built environment.

  • HKA | Hermann Kamte & Associates is an international architecture and design practice founded in 2017. The studio operates across architecture, urbanism, landscape, interior and product design, combining research, technology, and sustainability within an integrated process. Active across Africa, Europe, North America, and Asia, HKA develops projects rooted in sustainable development and contemporary design, using advanced digital tools to deliver precise, contextual, and forward-looking solutions. Each project is approached as a unique system, shaped by research into function, material, use, and environment. A strong focus on timber architecture drives ongoing research into resilient, low-carbon alternatives to conventional construction, positioning HKA at the intersection of innovation, ecology, and urban transformation.

  • HKA is a research-driven studio engaged throughout the entire project lifecycle, from concept to delivery. Design decisions are informed by 3D modeling, parametric design, simulations, and performance testing, allowing rapid iteration and informed choices. Complex geometries are developed through custom algorithms and parametric workflows, followed by in-depth experimentation on materials, construction methods, and spatial systems. BIM is central to the practice—not as a tool, but as a collaborative process integrating design, coordination, cost control, sustainability analysis, and lifecycle thinking. Climatic and contextual data are embedded from the earliest stages to optimize environmental performance and long-term efficiency
