Culture is the memory of the people, it must be preserved.
Afghanistan is a country with a great past events, but this also includes internal conflicts (political, ethnic, civil…). Today the storm has passed and the future is ongoing, it is time to love, peace, and freedom. The most prestigious heritage of Bamiyan is certainly the ‘Giants Buddha’ but the drama of 2001 took him out.
The Cultural Centre of Bamiyan should be a home of social gathering, a sight and the expression of the community. It encourages the practice of the arts and teaching history.
The idea of the cell uses the concept of freedom; the type of space appropriation by the Hazaras; the historic site of Bamiyan for humanity; the nature and the human. The cell is the basic unity of all living beings: It is the structural unit, functional and reproductive constitute any part of a living being.
The project is a symbiosis between the elements of nature. Rammed Earth ensures thermal, acoustical and visual comfort inside and outside. The design benefits of natural ventilation and lighting. This sustainable project is possible because of local materials and their low environmental footprint. Passive and active solar energy contributes to generating electricity and to produce heating in winter.
Rammed Earth construction is advantageous for several reasons: inexpensive, comfortable and adaptable to all harsh weather contexts.
The Centre produces open spaces to the visitor experience and breaks with monotony of the unique path.
